Visit the famous Angkor Wat

The adventure commences in Siem Reap, providing a gentle acclimation amidst the tranquility of a guest house. Participants delve into the ancient wonders of Angkor Wat, pedaling through the city's outskirts on bikes. This sets the stage for a comprehensive understanding of Cambodia's history, encompassing the Khmer Rouge era, genocide, and the indomitable spirit of survival.

Transitioning to Battambang, a city steeped in cultural significance, the program pivots towards service and immersion. Collaborating with a local NGO, students contribute to community projects, fostering economic self-sustainability.

Days are filled with a spectrum of activities, from renovating school buildings to engaging with local children in classrooms. The vibrant city also unfolds its artistic side, offering glimpses of Khmer temples, colonial architecture, and the renowned circus school.

As participants return to Siem Reap for departure, they carry newfound knowledge and confidence. A special goodbye in Battambang precedes a final night of reflection, culminating in a closing dinner.

On the Cambodia program, it’s impossible to ignore both the ancient and more recent historical impacts of genocide. This topic can be triggering or emotionally difficult for some groups/students.
This program is ideal for those who want to take a deeper look at life in Cambodia – activities will prompt profound inquiries, exploring collective problem-solving, migration dynamics, the impact of history on identity formation.

Global Routes is an industry leader in the field of experiential education. We have led over 10,000 students on immersive and transformative experiences abroad since 1967. Our primary mission is to support educators in their curriculum goals by facilitating exceptional global learning experiences.

In addition to offering 4-5 week open-enrollment summer programs for high school students, we also love working with schools, camps, and groups to design and develop custom programs and courses.

Each custom program we design is unique. We use the foundation of our global partner network to craft a trip itinerary that encapsulates the tenets of our Global Routes programs:

We design and deliver experiences for educators, administrators, and group leaders – basically anyone who has a group interested in experiential education as a modality for learning!
