And they’re off…

As an administrative team, every year we look forward to welcoming back our returning staff, greeting the new staff and working with all the staff during our 10 days training. This is such a fun, rewarding, energizing and inspiring time. This is my second staff training with Global Routes and fifth with Windsor Mountain, our sister organization. This seventh training was truly a gem!

With 30+ leaders coming from all over the world, we delved deep into everything from risk management, policies and procedures to communication exercises and even group Kung Fu! Our leaders are teachers, social workers, gap year leaders, text book editors, landscapers, graduate students and non profit administrators. They enjoy gardening, climbing, cycling, knitting, painting, cooking and yoga. Some have started non profits, others will embark on fellowships in the fall. Collectively they are fun, reflective, inspiring and truly dedicated to educating today’s youth through international and experiential programs. We feel honored to have each one of them working with us this summer.

Today students arrived in Cusco to begin the Windsor Mountain Peru program, Grant, Annie and Fabio landed in Nepal, Ecuador and Tanzania to begin preparing for their respective group’s arrival this weekend. Outside our summer office window, the summer camp staff are eagerly awaiting opening day tomorrow. There is a buzz in the air, summer is here, and we are excited!!!

Here are some photos from staff training, enjoy!

Hola! If you’ve been following our journey in Ecuador you know we were last in Peguche. While there we hiked up a dormant volcano (Lake Cuicocha), shopped in the renowned Otavalo Market, and learned about dream catchers from one of the Homestay parents. With a mix of getting to know the locals and playing more soccer in our free time.
