Andrew Rivin, Executive Director M.B.A., Yale University; B.A., Humanities, University of Texas, Austin; Phi Beta Kappa. Andrew has been working in education for 26 years and led the first-ever Global Routes college and high school programs in the 1980s. He has traveled extensively in Africa, India, Asia and Central America. Prior to founding Global Routes with Kenneth, Andrew worked as a Deputy Headmaster and Teacher at a rural secondary school in Kenya. In his spare time Andrew is a dedicated practitioner and teacher of yoga.

Jason Sarouhan, Director B.A., Biological Anthropology, University of California, San Diego. In college Jason spent five months traveling and participating in a conservation and wildlife field program in Tanzania that sparked his passion to pursue further studies in paleo-archaeology and cultural studies, and his return to East Africa two more times in as many years. A fifty-five day Outward Bound Instructor's course solidified Jason's commitment to experiential education and he spent the next several years teaching, developing and leading kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing and natural history based programs for youth. Initially hired as a field leader for Global Routes in 2003, he then managed the Africa & Asia programs for two years before assuming the responsibilities of Director. Jason is dedicated to being an inspiring role model to our participants and staff alike; helping them to push beyond their own pre-conceived limitations in order to broaden their perspectives on themselves and the world around them. When not in the field, Jason enjoys alpine backpacking adventures, playing ultimate disc, practicing yoga, dancing and sharing his life's adventures with his wife, Jane.

Jane Goldstone Sarouhan, Director of Admissions, B.A., Anthropology, San Francisco State University, Cum Laude. For her junior year of college Jane circumnavigated the globe, studying and working with world-renowned academics, grassroots activists and local scholars in England, India, Thailand, Malaysia, New Zealand and Colombia. She returned to the states to co-found an organization that employed homeless adults in urban market gardens. The success of such a program that could tangibly address environmental, economic and social issues inspired her to explore documentary filmmaking and strategic planning in the nonprofit sector. Her commitment to facilitating awareness and change through alternative education and personal experience ultimately led her to Global Routes over 17 years ago. Since then she has lived, traveled and worked with our programs in Kenya, Tanzania, Ghana, Thailand, Nepal, Costa Rica, Belize and St. Lucia as a Group Leader, Program Manager and Director. Jane is also a Wilderness First Responder, ski instructor, kayaker, runner, gardener and hula hooper. When not exploring the further destinations of this great world, she finds no greater joy than traveling to the outer reaches of Cape Cod with her husband Jason and their beautiful daughter Kaya.

Laura Litwiller, Program Manager M.A. International Education, SIT Graduate Institute; B.A. Spanish & Secondary Education, Goshen College. In her quest to master Spanish, Laura studied abroad in Costa Rica and Mexico and taught ESL in Venezuela. As hoped, her Spanish improved and her desire to connect with people of other cultures grew. Instead of continuing on her path as a high school Spanish teacher, she chose to continue her cross-cultural journey as an immigration paralegal in Chicago. There, she helped manage the legal cases of immigrants from around the world, listening to their life stories and learning more about the political, social, and environmental issues affecting their lives. Hoping to learn how to expose others to such valuable learning through immersion experiences, she pursued an M.A. in International Education at the SIT Graduate Institute. Her coursework prepared her to develop meaningful, cross-cultural experiences, and she began her work in the field as a leader for a high school language and culture program in Spain. She then joined the Center for Global Education in Mexico, where she helped organize and facilitate travel seminars and study abroad programs. Laura has also traveled in Thailand, Indonesia, Peru, and Ecuador. She enjoys cooking, eating, dancing, giggling, and playing outside.

Rosie Perera, Admissions Manager M.S., Environmental Studies, Antioch University New England; B.A., Cultural Geography, Smith College. After graduating from high school in 1993 Rosie decided to pursue alternative educational experiences before committing to four more years of school and took what is now known as a ‘gap year’. Her internships in an environmental studies field course in New Zealand and a health center in rural Kentucky led her to design a major in Cultural Geography where she focused on the interaction between social development and natural resource availability. After graduating from college Rosie worked as a ranger at Grand Canyon National Park, Olympic National Park and Tongass National Forest in Alaska. She also worked as an environmental educator in California and Massachusetts. The pull of her native New England drew her back to the area for graduate school in 2005. She discovered an interest in program evaluation, group dynamics and leadership while completing a Masters in Environmental Studies at Antioch University New England. Rosie has traveled in Mexico, Costa Rica, New Zealand, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda as well as throughout the United States. In her downtime Rosie loves reading, hiking, eating ice cream and finding excuses to wear costumes.
