Kenneth Hahn, Executive Director B.A., Sociology, Magna Cum Laude, Harvard University; M.B.A., Yale University. Kenneth has been working in experiential education for 25 years. Prior to founding Global Routes with Andrew, Kenneth was an educational consultant and college administrator. He has traveled throughout Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas and has led Global Routes programs in the United States, China and Thailand. Kenneth enjoys running, cycling and playing with his children, Jonah and Sarina. In his spare time, Kenneth serves in the leadership of his community’s synagogue.




Andrew Rivin, Executive Director B.A., Humanities, University of Texas, Austin; Phi Beta Kappa; M.B.A., Yale University. Andrew has been working in education for 25 years and led the first-ever Global Routes college and high school programs in the 1980s. He has traveled extensively in Africa, India, Asia and Central America. Prior to founding Global Routes with Kenneth, Andrew worked as a Deputy Headmaster and Teacher of a rural secondary school in Kenya. In his spare time Andrew is a dedicated practitioner and teacher of yoga.





Jason Sarouhan, Director B.A., Biological Anthropology, University of California, San Diego. Jason made his first journey to East Africa in college and spent 5 months traveling and participating in a conservation & wildlife field program in Tanzania. This initial exposure to Africa inspired Jason to pursue further studies in paleo-archaeology & cultural studies and he returned two more times. A semester Outward Bound Instructor's course solidified Jason's commitment to experiential education & he spent the next several years teaching, developing and leading kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing & natural history programs for youth. Multiple field seasons with Global Routes and two years as the Africa & Asia Program Director have further strengthened Jason's dedication to facilitating inspiring courses that provide young adults with the opportunity to stretch their own capacity for compassion, integrity and global understanding. Jason also enjoys Ultimate Disc, surf kayaking, playing percussion, dancing & adventuring through life with his wife, Jane.



Chris Kusek, Program Director B.B.A., Finance, University of Notre Dame; M.A., Education, George Washington University. An educator at heart, Chris has taught throughout the world in traditional and experiential settings. After serving two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana, he returned to the U.S. to pursue formal training as a teacher. Since that time, he has returned to Africa several times to help open an HIV/AIDS summer camp in Botswana and has led programs to Ghana and Kenya with Global Routes. He has been trained as an emergency medical technician and enjoys scrabbling, hiking, running, and playing fetch with his trusty golden retriever, Jake.



Susan Carey, Program Director B.A, Geography and Latin American Studies, University of Massachusetts-Amherst; M.A., Intercultural Relations, Lesley University. Susan directs our programs in Belize, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru, and is fluent in Spanish. After university, Susan lived, worked and traveled extensively in South America for seven years; spending a bulk of that time in her beloved Ecuador.   Her professional experience includes developing, managing, and leading study abroad and volunteer service programs in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, and serving as study abroad advisor for college students in Boston, MA.   Susan's interests include sustainable development, environmental justice, ecotourism, and experiential education. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, running, swimming, and hiking.



Lauren Oleet, Program Coordinator B.A., Anthropology, Cum Laude, Union College. At Global Routes, Laure manages student enrollment, family preparation and marketing. Her love for experiential education, the wilderness, and cultural immersion developed as she has learned and lived in Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and on the Hopi and Navajo Reservations. In college, Lauren traveled throughout New South Wales and Queensland, Australia, where she conducted independent research on youth environmental education curricula. Prior to joining Global Routes, Lauren led courses for Onshore Offshore Expeditions. A dedicated social activist, Lauren is especially passionate about social justice issues and women's advocacy. A traveler at heart and at home in the mountains, Lauren enjoys skiing, backpacking, hiking, cycling around the Pioneer Valley, knitting, and honing her backgammon skills over copious amounts of coffee.



Bo Fox, Marketing Representative B.A, Global and International Studies, emphasis in Social and Political Studies, University of California , Santa Barbara . Bo’s passion for traveling has given him the opportunity to work and live in various countries throughout Europe , Central and South America . While fine-tuning his Spanish skills, learning local customs, and teaching English, Bo still found time to pack up his tent and surfboard and explore as many new coastlines as possible. Being the youngest of 8 brothers and sisters and having spent significant time living with homestay families all across Latin America , Bo has spent the last 4 years of his life juggling his time between family in the US and family abroad. Bo has led for 3 seasons with Global Routes and is now currently working on the road as Global Routes’ Marketing Contact before returning to the field this summer. While not leading programs for Global Routes, Bo can be found spending the majority of his time in the ocean surfing. Bo possesses a love for making music, reading, exploration, animals and adventure.
