ECUADOR and the Galápagos Teaching Internship Program
Contained within the borders of one small country are the headwaters of the Amazon, the snow-capped volcanoes of the Andes and Darwin’s Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world! It has a remarkable variety of habitats, and is as rich culturally as it is geographically. Discover Ecuador firsthand as you meet the indigenous peoples of the High Sierra, trek through clouds in the high Andes, and celebrate the vibrancy of rural family life.
On this program, you dive into an immersion experience that is unparrelled by spending 10 weeks living with a family in a rural Ecuadorian village, teaching English and other key subjects in a local school. We believe that the most meaningful travel experiences are those immersed in an authentic community and we invite you to embrace these challenges and opportunities as part of this one-of-a-kind program.
Experience Otavalo, an Andean mountain village famous for its volcanic crater lake and artisan markets. Enjoy some of the greatest hikes in South America trekking in the Andes.
Teach English in a local community school.
Improve your Spanish by helping your host mother make empanadas, visiting with your new neighbors, or teaching children how to play duck duck goose.
Explore the world-famous Galapagos Islands by land and sea as you snorkel alongside sea lions, hike the craters of the Sierra Negro and Chico volcanoes, and soak up the sun on white-sand beaches. Sight the famous blue-footed booby, the Galapagos tortoise, and snorkel alongside curious sea lions.
