Global Routes works closely with schools, organizations, groups and other inspired individuals to create Custom Programs. With the Global Routes hallmark of sustainable community service at their core, these programs are further customized based on the unique interests, goals, dates, destinations and budgets of our partners. This is an extraordinary opportunity to manifest your dream program. Program Length: Based on your program goals, desired destination and budget, we will help advise and create the best possible timeframe for you. Are you interested in an alternative spring break, a “Jan-Term” program, a summer opportunity, or something else altogether?

Program Destination: Typically we start with those destinations where we have long established programs and in-country staff. Given our nearly 25-year history, we have many such itineraries and relationships in Asia, Africa, Central and South America.

Program Interests: Groups who seek out Global Routes are interested in meaningful community service and cross-cultural exchange, and our model of living and volunteering in a rural village. In addition, many are looking to:

• deepen language skills;
• increase group cohession;

• develop personal empowerment;

• have an ecologically responsible travel adventure;

• learn traditional arts, crafts and customs;

• explore the natural environment;

• engage global awareness and citizenship.

Global Routes Standards: Our staff will work very closely with you from conceptualization to implementation on all aspects of your custom experience. We bring our expertise in program development and group facilitation to build and guide your program every step of the way.

Partner Preparation: We draft rough itineraries and program models; make conference calls, site visits and or presentations to partner organizations and potential participants; create password protected webpages made easily accessible to all participants with extensive trip information and links to packing, passport, immunization and resource lists.

Program Development: We finalize the program itinerary, activities and budget; make reservations for all accommodations, meals, international and in-country travel; select, prepare and oversee the host community service projects and living arrangements; organize all other program components, including recreational and cultural activities.

Staff Support: We assign a lead staff person to liaise with the partner throughout the planning process; designate one field instructor to lead the group for the duration of the program; create communications plan to support the program in the field, making our directors available 24 hours a day for ongoing program support.
