Global Routes offers theme-oriented programs for adults. Each program weaves this theme through its entirety while giving ample opportunities to be of service, visit Global Routes service sites and connect with people in local communities. PROGRAMS FOR ADULTS

Connection, Service, Exploration, Passion, Insight

These are the words that best describe what we want to offer you as a participant in a Global Routes program. When you travel some place with Global Routes, you’re not there primarily to see the sites. Our assumption is that you’ve done that already, or at minimum, it’s not your primary motivation this time around. You are there to meet people, learn about yourself and others, sample new foods, explore a new culture, make great friends, offer your skills, learn or advance other skills and yes, see the beauty of a country too.

Programmatic Theme

Each trip has a programmatic theme. It could be Yoga, Photography, Buddhism and Meditation, or Teaching and Service. This theme runs through the entirety of the program and will make an appearance on most every day. Beyond this theme, however, in all our programs you get to visit sites where past groups have volunteered – an orphanage, a school, a health center; and you will also be of service yourself, whether for an afternoon, a day, a week or more.

Deep Connections

We have always found the deepest connections come from time spent sharing your stories and hearing those of others, so there will be ample opportunity to do this, both with fellow members of your group and with people you meet along the way.

Learning

Ultimately these programs are about learning – learning about yourself, learning about others and learning about the world around us. So, here are a few thoughts about learning and education offered by some people you may know.
  • The purpose of life is to match your heartbeat with the beat of the universe.
    Joseph Campbell

  • The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step
    Lao Tzu

  • A ship in a harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for.
    William Shedd

  • There is only one thing more painful than learning from experience and that is not learning from experience.
    Archibald McLeish

  • Don’t walk ahead of me; I may not follow. Don’t walk behind me; I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend.
    Albert Camus

  • Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover..
    Mark Twain
